Okay, maybe not its mere existence, but the fact that almost all of the decks that you would be using D.D. Crow against play easily summoned Level 3's lets them potentially plus after you remove stuff with D.D. Crow.
So, what are we supposed to use instead of D.D. Crow? Effect Veiler? If you use D.D. Crow, then you probably already use Effect Veiler. Even so, you can't replace all of your Crows with Veilers.
Basically, anything that banishes can now be easily countered by most decks.
You may think that it's a little crazy to worry this much about that, but the thing is that good players will probably save their Tour Guides until they need to use them. That means that they'll be dropping it when they have no other plays, or when they need to get something back from the banished pile.
Effectively, banishing something for them could end in a huge plus for your opponent. Of course, you could possibly have Effect Veiler ready to negate Tour Guide, but if you have Crows and Veilers every time you need them, then I don't see how you would be losing anyways.
What I'm looking at right now is using Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror to stop Tour Guide, Sangan, and other Darks they happen to play. There's also Pulling the Rug, and even Black Horn of Heaven (maybe not, though, since they would still plus off of Sangan...).
The problem with all of these cards is that they can be too situational. You're opponent's playing Dark Worlds? Sure, play Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror. They're playing Debris Plants? Pulling the Rug and Black Horn of Heaven work. Zombies? Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror and Black Horn of Heaven would probably be okay.
There's not much overlap for these cards, so it may or may not be efficient to Side Deck them, depending on the deck that you're playing.
But, I suppose we don't have to worry much about that until we find out what the new ban list is. Sangan might just be banned, making this much less of a hassle...
I remembered someone suggested a ban on Leviar. Is that you? Cause I am strongly in favour of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank god Leviar cannot bring back Grapha.
No, I didn't touch any cards from Generation Force on my Hopes post.
ReplyDeleteIf anything, I would want Sangan banned so that Tour Guide isn't a huge free plus. It's about as bad as Reborn Tengu with the new TCG Xyz ruling.
i think konami and kevin tewart ( oOo) should just fix the xyz ruling. i dont know why he wants to complicate it and cause a difference between tcg and ocg. fixing it will just solve the whole problem
ReplyDeleteya i agree leviar is overpowered. dont forget you can crow opponents monster and bring it back. LOL
@mike
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm assuming that the ruling was made the way it was because Konami wanted to make more money off of Extreme Victory. Either way, it just makes them look extremely unorganized, since they waited until the day before Gen Con Indy to announce it.
Ah, I forgot that you could take your opponent's banished Monsters, but usually, the stuff that you banish is stuff that you want to stay banished.
yeah but sometimes you jusr need that monster in your opponents rfp zone to make a certain exceed summon or theres a monster with a low enough level in there to allow you to summon Trishula :D i'd just keep my options open anytime hehe
ReplyDeleteBlack horn of heaven doesn't stop tour guide since it only stops a summon not an effect that summons
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI am aware of that...
Black Horn of Heaven is to stop the rampant Synchros/Xyz/Chaos Sorcerer plays that they can make. It at least stops them from getting Leviair out successfully, even if it forces you to take a minus.
That's why Pulling the Rug would be better. I did imply that Black Horn of Heaven wasn't the best option...
