Anyways, lots of stuff happened today. Beast King Barbaros was revealed to be in one of the new ZEXAL tins, so Aki can finally have the copies he always wanted. I don't care which tin it's in, since I'm buying three of each.
Kevin Tewart "officially" (through Facebook) laid down the law for Xyz Materials in the TCG. They are considered to be on the field. So, Reborn Tengu does not activate when it becomes an Xyz Material, but it does activate when it's detached. Same deal for Sangan and other such cards.
Now, I hate this new "ruling" as much as you probably do, but let's look at it objectively. If it had worked this way all along, we probably wouldn't care. We'd be all like, "Oh, it works the same as Synchros, except delayed a little bit. That's nice." This whole rage thing is because a new, arguably balanced mechanic was ripped out from under us. Not to mention the whole Tour Guide into Sangan thing that we already have to deal with.
Now, ignoring Tour Guide and Reborn Tengu, since those are already broken, the problem that I see with this is that it lets you turn random floaters into big Monsters for free. You've got two Goblin Zombies? Well, let's turn them into a Steelswarm Roach! What about those two XX-Saber Darksouls? Let's give you a 2500 ATK beater and a plus-1 in Leviathan Dragon! At least with Tuners there was some requirement, and the Tuner wasn't usually a floater. With this... well, I already gave you the examples.
To end on a nicer note, let's discuss Turbo Pack 6, shall we? This is a Turbo Pack that I actually want to get. All of the holos are great, the Rares are nice, and the Commons aren't garbage. Sure, there are some cards in here that I want less than others, but it's the best Turbo Pack we've seen in a while (basically since Turbo Pack 1 or 2). I don't even need the Ultimate Rare Dark Armed Dragon or the Ultra Rare Sangan, but they're nice enough to warrant keeping anyway.
My only problem with Turbo Pack 6 is that the $10 Rare in Chain Disappearance was reincarnated as a more expensive Super Rare. It's hard enough to get as it is; why couldn't it have been a Common? Eh, assuming Six Samurai, Tengu Plants, and Junk Doppel get hit hard enough in September, it won't be that good of a Side Deck card anymore. I've made due without it, but it would be really nice to have.

ReplyDeleteultimate dark armed secret will forever be beautiful
really that xyz ruling barely took effect i've been playing with that ruling for a whilenow
turbo pack 6 is pretty useless idk
i wanted heavy back the game needs a backrow clearer not called trunade with trunade i wouldn't care i would set 10 cards in the back if i could but with heavy it's a total new game
malevolent is too easily to play around
They really should have switched it so that Chain Dis is a common, and Gemini Spark is a super. That'd be so sick.
ReplyDelete@LFN
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was hoping for, especially since Gemini Spark was already a Common. Oh well, at least I can pick up nice, shiny Chain Disappearances now. That is, if I decide to get any at all.
