Response to my Hopes Post

This is the response to the three Anonymous comments on the last post. It can be seen as an extension of that post.

Dark Worlds are still plenty powerful. Gate is a free discard every turn, and, like you said, Snow is good enough to keep them in the meta.

@Anonymous #2

I was leaning more towards Dust Tornado, but yes, that is another alternative. It's just that those cards downsides make it so that they don't just become another copy of Heavy Storm if your opponent only Sets one back row.

@Anonymous #3

Yes, it is what I hope will happen.

Coelacanth is a +3 "barf your deck onto the field" card. It's like the Gateway of the Six for Fish.

Gorz is a huge Monster that is difficult to stop. If it didn't make a potentially huge Token, it might be okay. But, the fact that it can swing games that were otherwise lost by itself, and also how the opponent cannot effectively play around it detracts from skillful play. Personally, I don't care, since Scraps can push through Gorz like it were a Tragoedia, but I think that it should be banned.

Morphing Jar gets rid of Empty Jar and indirectly hits Dark World. While it can be used skillfully, especially if Heavy Storm is legal, it's a huge power card in Dark Worlds. And I'd rather have one less FTK (Empty Jar) in the game, especially since it's pretty difficult to stop.

Dandylion's Tokens are abused too easily through Formula Synchron. And, the Debris Dragon into Black Rose Dragon play would be a lot less horrible if they didn't still have field presence in the Tokens afterwards.

Giant Trunade is harder to negate than Heavy Storm, and doesn't discourage Setting your whole hand.

I explained Mind Control already. If you'd like to explain why you think we should still have it, then we could actually have a discussion about it.

Grapha is infinite +1 recursion.

Judgment Dragon is a field nuke at a minimal cost. You shouldn't have more than one of those.

Rescue Rabbit is part of an OTK combo that makes Shooting Quasar Dragon with Treeborn Frog and Fishborg Blaster. If Fishborg were banned, then I wouldn't mind Rescue Rabbit so much.

Faultroll is easily searchable, so the consistency of the X-Saber swarms is not what I'm after. It's the fact that they can drop two Faultrolls and OTK you in an instant.

Formula Synchron enables too many combos. It lets you turn Tokens or Treeborn Frog into free draws.

Mystical Space Typhoon is for if Heavy Storm is Limited. I shouldn't have to explain this.

Why should Reborn Tengu be Unlimited?

I did play during DAD Return and Tele-DAD. I don't see how that relates to anything.

I think that Konami is too afraid to touch Destiny Draw and Emergency Teleport, but I wouldn't mind either way.

  1. this is A#3 agin
the tele dad dad return comment was that tengu most likely about 98 percent won't get hit tcg exclusive and imo tengu is not on par with allure a deadly card indeed changed the game
plus ude made the emergency banlist not konami and konami did nothing to lightsworns tcg exclusives you could infer what will happen with tengu do you really think they would create this card three months into the format to immediately hit it?
ok honestly do you think recue rabbit will get hit?
jd is probably the best card in the advance format right now in terms of power and effect wise but i don't think it needs a hit i've wanted it to one since september 2009 he.he.it's not gonna happen
granted fishborg to 0 is likely to happen.... cards broke!
trunade to 0 hell no please this game needs more back row removal in game breaking way
i watched as everybody complained about heavy and konami actually listened now that it's banned the diversity makes everyone want it back pleaz come back skill is now 5 percent of the game from 25 in the past
if trunade gets banned which is not a problem card just hype because oh get's rid of your two warnings for a turn great your d prisons horn of the phantom beasts are still alive damn it!!!!! then mst should stay at 2
grapha is good but it hasn't even came to tcg yet and from a structure deck?
coelacanth idk just too hard to summon without fishborg and useless without fishborg to be honest right?
sabers are too slow for the format but i see you are trying to hit all the mainstream deck like march 2010 list mind control is one for one at on es fine game needs it
konami is too afraid it's a year since ddraw limit and 2 since e tele but it's about time since they missed out on this on the march 2011 list

  2. oh yeah and also duality to zero tis card should not exist players wanted diversity and that's what's killing the game ever since shining darkness

  3. i like luarens list alot well except for the trunade

This isn't a ban list prediction. It's what I hope will happen.

If you've been playing as long as you say you have, you should know that MST should not be at a number above 1 if Heavy Storm is legal.

Coelacanth can still OTK without Fishborg.

X-Sabers can still open with a sack hand of Boggart Knight, another X-Saber, and two Faultrolls to go for game as soon as turn 2.

That "Ban Duality" comment lost you a mess load of credibility.

  5. A#3 "Tengu will not be hit to 2, it is only an TCG card and not yet in OCG, we'll have to wait until Japan gets it before it will even think to get hit (past example, Charge of the Light Brigade was not hit until Japan got it, despite the fact it was making LS insane in America)"
    your words not mine
i don't want to sound like a jerk or anything just trying to prove my point i mean i've been waiting for each list since march 2008 so i sorta gave up hope on predicting

  6. A#3 :i agree the duality comment did but i mean look at duality balanced card right but look what it's doing how do explain this
you've been playing since the beginning right do you like these diverse formats or the skill formats of the past pre march 2009? be honest
oh yeah i understand it is a hope list sorry for being rude

  7. A#3 :idk coelacanth just doen't seem banworthy or even limit worthy just too inconsistent after playtesting with fish ftk whatever though

  8. A#3: i hated x sabers for a long while but i've grown accustomed to them they've been around for a while an they're pretty balanced without heavy storm and cold wave

    ReplyDelete
  9. A#3: those stun decks benfit alot from duality and stun should never be par with meta decks well stun is a meta deck but you get the idea
duality also helps alot of other deck that don't deserve to be as consistent like gravekeepers

  10. @Anonymous #3

When did I say that quote about Tengu?

I think that it's possible to have a diverse format that also involves skill. Right now, the largely skill-based decks are being overshadowed by Junk Doppel, Tengu Plants, and Six Samurai. If some of the auto-pilot swarm decks are dealt with, and if Heavy Storm comes back, a decent amount of skill might return to the game.

  11. you said that ncomment on lfn's banlist predictions article and i completely agree with the heavy storm idea tha's why i want it back too
but i still don't want duality to exist
i'm gonna sell my copiesbefore septmber 2011
a true meat deck does not need dualities to beast imo

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Anonymous #3

I did not say that. The comment below mine said that. I use proper grammar.

I hate Stun decks, too, but they're still inconsistent, even with Pot of Duality. They only wins they get are from drawing extremely well; otherwise, they just lose after drawing too many Monsters or not enough Monsters.

  13. A33: oooooop sorry it was an anonymous that said that damn computer being frozen refreshed the tab and have sen the truth
everyone's entitled to their opinions children's card game after all but the truth is it's a game where young adults and teens pit their strategy skills against eachother
    plants are skill based decks we just have herp derp cards like librarian and trishula, brionac etc.. goyo....{i know it's banned}
sacky sams and gravekeepers ruined the meat stun should not be that good scratch that..tomato control.but gravekeeprs literally shut decks down this is unacceptable
whatev's great artice btw just wish konami would listen right? and i don't like the dandy ban cuz i still use my ultra rare back from 06

  17. Wow... Limiting Judgment Dragon and not getting anything back? Seriously? Your kicking a dead horse. Ive not seen Lightsworns being played at all. Ive seen the ENGINE (Ryko, Lyla and Charge), but never the ENTIRE DECK. I fail to see why you want it limited. Yes, its a 3000 beater than can blow up the world. But I can make Demise OTK just as easily, pay a minimum cost to destroy the world and I kill you in one turn, unless you have Trago or Gorz. I can also just as easily play T.G.s, summon out Blade Blaster then do the TG1 chain. Not only do I get a free monster, I have a 3300 that saves itself. Since your bringing back Heavy Storm, I can just as easily clear the backrow and beat you over the face for at least half your lifepoints.

Unless you can validate why Judgment Dragon should be limited, when the deck as a whole is dead right now, I cant agree with that. Of course, there are OTHER cards on there that I cant understand why you want them to be hit, like Morphing Jar and Card Destruction.

PS: Morphing Jar and Card Destruction are fine. They themselves arent the problem, its the fact Dark Worlds have the swarming ability by being discarded. You dont nick a deck like that, you have to attack it. Banning those two cards does nothing, as theres still other cards that do the job just as well, like Cheerful Coffin.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Anonymous

Dropping Demise is much harder than dropping Judgment Dragon. And, as soon as you can drop one Judgment Dragon, you can drop two, which is completely different from Demise; if you try and play Demise and it gets stopped, you can't just instantly drop another one to save yourself. That's the main problem I have with Judgment Dragon.

Your comparison with T.G.'s was completely irrelevant to Judgment Dragon. Blade Blaster is much harder to summon and does not destroy the field.

Banning Morphing Jar and Card Destruction does a lot. They're the two most powerful discard cards for Dark Worlds, and without them, you can't drop your hand onto the field like that.

If you want to use Cheerful Coffin, go ahead. It's a minus that doesn't let you draw a bunch of cards while swarming.

  19. Now obviously people did not read the title of your last post: "HOPES" for the banlist. Now we all know that only part of them are going to happen, but even if cards are not banned, it does not necessarily imply it SHOULD stay. While we do not need to consider the economic outcome, Konami has to, so I think everyone should understand this first.
