Hey people, LightGrunty from YouTube here. I'll be using this blog for various purposes. It used to be mainly for Yu-Gi-Oh, but I stopped posting about Yu-Gi-Oh at the end of 2012 due to the direction Konami decided to take the game in. I hope to discuss Kaijudo more now, and there's also some random Vanguard stuff. Don't forget to check out my YouTube channel.

Isn't that the point of it, though? One guy I played against at the Regional said something along the lines of, "I can't believe I'm going to lose like this."
The surprise factor can help a lot, which is why I like to play decks like these.
u asked for comments on your videos so i thought id write this. ppl watch video like this to learn and get insight. U just kinda read what the cards are then say "I dint really know what to say about this deck" if thats the case just post a screen shot from DN. at least talk about plays or why card choices more, like when u said about what u grab wit sang an etc. all in all the video has no real value beyond a deck list. Its video you can move in it show how the cards play and interact, I feel like wasted time watching it.
I understand what you're saying, but I feel like you're ignoring the discussions in the video that I did make. I explained why I run the Diva engine, the Reborn Tengu, one Tanngrisnir, Sangan, Spirit Reaper, and Duality. I also explained why I didn't run certain cards, like Solemn Warnings or Vanadis, and why I wanted to take out the Torrential Tributes. An explanation behind the rationale of the Extra Deck was also in the video.
I see what you mean; I didn't really go through any of the complicated card interactions, but it'd take the same amount of time as a feature length movie to go through all of that. Believe it or not, I had to cut out 15 minutes of video to get the deck profile down to 25 minutes. If I had left everything in, people would have probably complained that it was too long. It's just that there's so many card interactions and tricks that you can do with this deck that I knew that I wouldn't be able to fit it into the video.
But, thanks for your input. I'll be sure to do a follow-up on my blog along with the whole mind games post.
Would you kindly post up some duels? I find it intriguing to run divas as opposed to tourguides(chaos route). How does this fair against the top meta decks such as rabbit, dragon and inzektors? Thank you!
There are quite a few duels featuring my Nordic Diva deck on my YouTube channel already. None of the new version, but there are several of the version of the deck I took to YCS Long Beach.
The first of these videos is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga2Z4s5Q32M
Or, you could just go on my YouTube channel and search for "Nordic Diva".
Have you considered Ancient Sacred Wyvern in the extra? card is insane if you are ahead in LP, and is easily made in this deck. I would consider it a Nordic extra deck staple
Yes, I have considered it. I have also considered Voltic Bicorn. However, I decided to run neither for reasons I explained in the video.
Basically, there's no space in the Extra Deck, and I only really need two Level 7 Synchros. Like I said, I've never been at a point where I was wishing I had added another Level 7 to my Extra Deck. Scrap Archfiend and Black Rose Dragon work well enough by themselves.
And in case I need to make a third Tanngnjostr play, I can grab Tanngrisnir and make Number 17: Leviathan Dragon instead.
I explained in the video that I don't like them this format. The LP cost is too big when all of the top decks can swarm and OTK you. It also does nothing to Chaos Dragons, since they can just revive or banish whatever you negated and continue to swarm.
For Chaos Dragons and Inzektors, I sided Chaos Trap Hole, which worked out great. The banishing makes a real difference.
Also: If you ever want to test on DN or something I'll be up to play with you if you'd like. I'm just jumping between decks because I don't "like" any specific deck at the minute.
Hamster is basically a power card in Nordics, so I like running three. I'm almost never disappointed to draw it, even if I draw multiples. The deck slows the opponent down enough so that you can constantly Set Monsters until you're ready to make big plays. Hamsters also help a lot against HERO Beat or other Stun decks.
Inzektors are the only deck that Hamster is bad against. The thing is, though, you don't Set your Hamster unless you can protect it. Even if they don't attack it, you can Flip Summon it yourself and get aggressive by summoning a Tuner or something. And of course, I side quite heavily for Inzektors (something like eight cards, I think).
I do know how it feels, and it has been at its worst this format due to having to find a balance between beating three equally-crazy yet completely different top decks.
However, I'm not really on DN that often. If you do happen to catch me when I'm on, though, I'd be happy to play a few duels.
The thing is that the deck can push through Veiler really easily. You'd often have a Monster out from a previous turn, like Reborn Tengu, Hamster, Tanngnjostr, or even Nordic Beast Tokens from Tanngrisnir. So even if they use Veiler on your Diva, then you can still Synchro and what-not.
The original idea for this deck was being able to have plays even if your Tanngnjostr gets Veiled. If that happens, you can summon Diva. If they have another Veiler, then okay, you can still make a Level 5 Synchro.
The Monsters being small is a problem, which is why Reborn Tengu and Deep Sea Diva help out a lot. They can function as beaters if I don't have any combos, which is why they're there.
Chaos Dragons can be a problem, but if you can slow them down enough and just rush them, then it works out okay. Unless they open Future Fusion or multiple milling Spells, they can't really do much for the first few turns. That's when you need to get aggressive and amass a field before they can do anything. If you get Thor out and can protect it from Chaos Sorcerer, you basically win.
I don't like randomly splashing Hanzo into various decks. I tried it with Hieratics and it made the deck even more inconsistent. I've thought about using it, but I don't think I will.
If I really wanted to use BLS, I would just get Tour Guides and use those as Darks. I'd probably take out the two Reborn Tengu and the Spirit Reaper to make room for the Tour Guides, but I don't know how I would make room for the BLS.
Either way, I don't really want to run Tour Guides, because then I wouldn't be able to use Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror effectively, and it's one of the best Side Deck cards against Inzektors. I could use Macro Cosmos instead, but I'm not so sure about that.
Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror IS really good against Inzektors, I agree.
I've been testing a Diva variant for the last few hours with friends and online (DN doesn't really count simply because people misplay all day long...)
I understand why you run Diva, but not sure how it's a beater? I think I'm understanding this wrong so I would like to be informed somehow.
I DO agree now that Hamster is still good, simply because unless you're playing against Inzektor and they have opened Inzektors + Hornet you do really well, and then obviously in game 2 you can side heavily.
I'll link you really quickly to a build I'm trying out - http://imgur.com/EKrOg
Tour Guide also attracts attacks with her 1000ATK which obviously synergizes with the Black Goat/etc.
Have you tried using Prohibiton against Inzektors? It also works really well, and would allow you to continue to use Dark attribute monsters. Gorz DOES win games C:
I'm not sure about Macro Cosmos in this deck, it doesn't necessarily hurt a lot, but you would have to side very heavily just to fit it in the deck which might lead to the deck just not working as well with Macro Cosmos as without it, leading to getting run over by stuff that you wouldn't normally have trouble with.
I don't know about you, but I like the Hanzo Hieratic deck and I think it's very consistent, although of course you're welcome to your own opinions, and I'm merely trying to help. (Super-Transform is kinda dead sometimes, I get where you're coming from though.)
Tell me what you think. It's good to have decent discussion about the deck since everybody at my locals is just...bleh.
Well, Diva turns itself into a beater when you grab Lost Blue Breaker and Synchro Summon. Obviously it can't do much by itself, but it gives the deck aggressive plays if it goes through.
Well, another problem I have with Tour Guide is that it doesn't do anything at all if it gets negated. At least with Diva, I have a Tuner that I can use with a Monster that's already out. Tour Guide just sits there next to my Hamster or Tengu doing nothing.
I have considered Prohibition, but I'm not entirely sold on it. I may switch my Shadow-Imprisoning Mirrors out for it, though, since it can be really good.
With Macro Cosmos, it doesn't really hurt you that much. I mean, it hurts Pot of Avarice and Sangan, but I can easily side those out. I mean, Macro Cosmos hurts Inzektors and Chaos Dragons a lot more than it hurts you.
BLS and TGU are pretty sweet, TGU just seems better than diva other than fetching Lost Blue and using it as an mst, but that means the had no TT,Warning,Dolka,Chain,Veiler, etc, at which point TGU -> Zenmaines/Leviathan is pretty sweet
So, assuming that they don't have any of the cards that would stop either Tour Guide or Deep Sea Diva, Tour Guide is somehow better? The only thing that Tour Guide would be better against is Torrential Tribute, since I can fetch Sangan and gauge their reaction.
The main plus that Diva has over Tour Guide is that Diva is a Tuner. If Tour Guide gets negated, then there's nothing I can do with it unless I have something like Tanngnjostr out. If Diva gets negated, I can still use it to tune to practically any other Monster.
And yes, BLS is broken, but it's completely dependent on me drawing my Tour Guide first, which I don't like.

To be honest, if you threw this deck in my locals, it will drive lots of people mad.

How does triple Hamster work out for you? I don't really understand mainly because Inzektors turn into a whole lot of ouch.

Yeah. Yeah it's mainly just Diva I don't really like about your list because of the obvious veiler plays.
DeleteIs monsters being a small a problem for you? It seems like Chaos Dragon would be uncomfortable. Other than that deck looks good.
Have you tried the Hanzo + Ninjitsu Art of Transformation build? You can end-phase for your Black Goat for plays next turn and what not?
+ It's a dark for Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of Brokendude because he's kinda relevant.
SS him can search for Sazank or something?
